Job Description
Nautique, the manufacturer of the world’s best watersports boats, is looking for a Designer with experience in the UI/UX Design field. As a member of the Design team, you will help create future products, interfaces and customer experiences in the boating and water sports markets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conceptualize and create a fully functioning Graphical User Interfaces for various boat models. The User interface will display various gauges and control electrical circuits of the boat (akin to Gauge displays and Infotainment displays in the Automotive field).
* Works closely with Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers; participates in the creative process of designing new boats and creating complimentary digital assets and potentially creating physical components as well
* Present wireframe mockups or concept illustrations to high level management.
* Creating supporting documents and assets will also need to be generated for the User Interfaces (such as Owner’s manuals and technical documents)
* Works loosely with external teams to provide supplemental graphics, data, and other support for the customer facing MyNautique App and the like. This app allows users to remotely view various aspects of their boat (GPS location, fuel level, etc.)
* Works loosely with the Marketing department with creating assets for the main company website and for the Design Your Nautique boat customization tool.
* Will help select/generate colors, materials, and finishes for digital assets and potentially physical boat components as well.
* Occasionally attend trade shows, seminars, and exhibitions
Qualifications
Skills and abilities for success in this position:
* Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Dreamweaver)
* Extensive knowledge of UI Design Applications (Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, etc)
* Working Knowledge of various Coding Languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc)
* Any experience with Motion Graphics is a plus (After Effects, Premiere, Maya, Cinema4D, etc.)
* Any experience with 3D CAD software is a plus (Rhinoceros 3D, Solidworks, etc.)
* Strong aesthetic sensibility and able to communicate ideas visually and verbally through sketches, wireframe mockups, and presentations
* Can perform research on design trends, market characteristics and product limitations.
* Able to multitask and work efficiently under tight timelines
* Well organized and high attention to detail
* Able to work in a complex team environment and take direction
* Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.
* Passion for the boating industry, particularly the watersports market, is highly valuable.
* Any experience or interest in electrical systems, mechanical systems and/or robotics is preferred (marine, automotive, drones, RC vehicles, home automation, etc.)
* Have a genuine passion for colors, materials, and finishes. Any interest in product trends, culture, art and/or fashion is appreciated.
Knowledge, Education and or Experience required:
* Bachelor’s degree in a Design-related field
* 2-5 years Professional Experience with UI design, UX Design, App design, Website design, or similar
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
* Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
* Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary.
* This is a safety sensitive position.
