Position Description (Full Job Description Available Upon Request): Overseeing general accounting operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, lease liabilities, and lease right-of-use assets.
  • Prepare month-end closing entries recording unearned revenue from multiple program funders.
  • Perform month-end soft close by accruing estimated care provider expenses based on averages of historical actual costs.
  • Manage the accounting for fixed assets, preparing journal entries recording additions, disposals, and depreciation of property, plant, and equipment.
  • Prepare for annual audit, assisting in the preparation of any required audit worksheets that may be required by external auditors.
  • Review the monthly statements of activities, inter-company transactions and detail general ledger for any potential error and omissions. Record and make any required adjustment and communicate to necessary parties or collaborate with Accounting Specialists for adjustments.
  • Oversee the preparation of all monthly accounting reporting as it relates to the Agency’s programs and work with financial Analysts to prepare financial reports as needed.
  • Manage the General Ledger and ensure that it adheres to generally accepted accounting principles.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years of accounting experience
  • In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Basic skills in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Starting Salary: $59,000, actual salary based upon experience and education.
