Lead UX Designer, Data Visualization and Reporting

Curriculum Associates is looking for an inspired and passionate Lead UX Designer to design efficient, intuitive, and compelling data visualizations and reporting experiences for our Educator platform. Working closely with the Associate Design Director, a Lead Designer at Curriculum Associates is a strong analytical and conceptual thinker who can transform ideas into products and demonstrate strong technical and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced work environment that requires creative problem-solving and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.
The Lead UX Designer will collaborate closely with the i-Ready product management teams to translate complex customer interactions, user requirements, and data into simple, engaging, user-centered solutions.
The impact you’ll have:
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to identify user requirements, design user-centered solutions, and iterate on feedback
– Translate educator needs into user-centered design solutions
– Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, and detailed design rationale
– Develop design guidelines and best practices for reporting and data visualization, and ensure that designs are aligned with brand standards and industry trends
– Participate in each step of the design process, including project planning, discovery, user research and analysis, usability testing, requirements definition, conceptual design, content planning, prototyping, interaction design, and interaction specification
– Deliver user stories, concept sketches, and experience storyboards
– Lead or assist in brainstorming sessions or design workshops
– Mentor and guide junior designers in the team to foster their growth and development
– Ensure all media is user-focused, highly engaging, and relevant to students of various abilities and varied demographics such as gender, ethnicity, and age
– Maintain, update, and improve existing products
Who we’re looking for:
– 7+ years of experience in UX design, with a focus on data visualization a plus
– Natural curiosity and a desire to make classrooms better places for students and teachers
– Deep experience in user-centered design processes from research to prototyping to final product
– Ability to effectively leverage design and design thinking to lead team meetings through complex problem spaces
– Expert knowledge of mobile and web interaction patterns and the experience to know when to enforce them and when it’s ok to break them
– Strong portfolio showcasing your design skills
– Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Axure, or Adobe Creative Suite
– Proven ability to work as part of a production team in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
– Grounding in the user-centered design process from research to iteration to detail design
– Strong graphic design skills with a focus on UI design
– Strong conceptual thinker with the ability to simplify complex problems for a range of audiences
– Strong written and verbal communicator

– Experience in K-8 curricula

Compensation & benefits: Competitive salary with great benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, employer contributed 401K.
Pay Range – This role’s range is $81,500. – $139,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
