JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for processing and posting real estate and personal property tax payments; answers customer questions, researches tax problems and provides back up to Customer Service Specialist II.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Receives mail and internet real estate and personal property tax payments; determines appropriate account number.
Verifies that amount paid corresponds with taxes due.
Ensures checks are written correctly with proper identification.
Posts amount paid in computer on corresponding account screen.
Prints tax payment receipts for each account posted and mails receipts.
Balances check total with receipt total and verifies receipts are posted to the correct account number.
Completes daily balance sheets for mail and internet payments; gives cash and daily balance sheet to vault personnel.
Receives tax payments and issues receipts as back up to the Customer Specialist II at the counter and County substations.
Researches records in the Assessor’s department and inter-departmental records to obtain addresses for returned tax bills.
Recalculates tax bills based on millage rates and penalties for delinquent taxes if requested by public.
Identifies when tax payments for special improvement district are delinquent and forwards to supervisor for processing.
Researches tax problems and answers general questions concerning delinquent and current taxes due, property ownership, mailing addresses, etc., by phone and at the information counter.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Digital dexterity necessary for keyboard operation.
Visual acuity necessary for gathering information from a computer screen.
Ability to hear and speak sufficiently to communicate information in person and by telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work performed in smoking restricted office environment with required traveling to Pulaski County Treasurer substations as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school or GED equivalency with bookkeeping or related courses; some work experience with financial recordkeeping, maintenance of computer records, customer service or related area, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
Must be bondable.
Employment is contingent upon payment of current and delinquent property taxes and satisfactory completion of a criminal background examination.
