We are a leader in our industry looking to add a Network Engineer to our Infrastructure team. You will own and maintain our data center from a networking perspective. We have a stable environment and you will be involved in all upgrades, new applications, anything that requires networking attention.
We are a mostly remote work force but in this role you must be commutable to our Jersey City, NJ location as you will be needed onsite from time to time.
Palo Alto installation and configuration and configuring and supporting Citrix Netscaler experience, in addition to supporting Cisco devices is required for this role.
What You Will Be Doing
- Troubleshoot and evaluate all components of the Cisco Network and Telephony implementations involving software, communications appliances, circuits, routers, and end station devices
- Utilize software/hardware tools to observe and regulate performance and status of all network resources, real-time and proactive monitoring of all network and telecommunications systems
- Identify and diagnose problems affecting network performance
- Design, architect, and maintain a secure and highly available LAN/WAN environment to support the mission critical networking requirements
- Enhance and improve the existing network infrastructure
- Define, implement, and oversee the daily operational processes for all network and telecommunications systems. Maintain 24x7x365 coverage and support for network and voice systems. Implement change control and documentation processes
- Utilize the deployed network management systems to gather data and produce reports for capacity utilization and performance/scalability planning purposes
- Work closely the DevOps Team to diagnose and solve complex technology problems
- Be a part of 24/7 On-call support for all systems with a focus on critical/crown jewel systems.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting network hardware and software issues including helping to support our DevOps, application development teams and platform teams
- Resolve network issues, configuring network hardware and software, providing 24/7 support for network issues and outages
What You Need for this Position
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
- CCNA or CCNP highly preferred
- 5+ years of hands on Network Engineering specifically focused on Cisco and firewalls
- 5+ years of experience with hands on Network Infrastructure support and engineering, including involvement planning, building and running an enterprise network
- Extensive knowledge Network Security, including the design, configuration, and tuning of Palo Alto Firewalls, ACL configuration, IPSec tunnels, SSL VPN, NAT, ASA
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on network engineering and troubleshooting experience, strong computer science or telecommunications background
- You must have experience with implementation and configuration of Palo Alto Firewalls
- Extensive knowledge and experience of core routing and switching, design, configuration, troubleshooting and usage of recommended best practices
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco Nexus and Catalyst lines of switches
- Experience configuring and supporting Citrix Netscaler is required
- Knowledge of load balancing technologies such as Citrix Netscalers Knowledge of Cloud based telephony solutions
- Experience with Cloud based technologies such as AWS and Azure
- Understanding of routing protocols BGP, EIGRP, LAN technologies, redundancy, HSRP and WAN connectivity
- Understanding of Spanning-tree, VTP, Port Channels, VPC, RSPAN Monitoring, Multicast
- Understanding and configuration experience of Cisco Meraki Wireless, Access Points, wireless redundancy, roaming, and remote office access points
- Hands on network troubleshooting skills utilizing tools, such as Solarwinds
- Customer service oriented, strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to alter communication style in order to ensure understanding among other varying communication styles/modalities
