The Research Manager will conduct research projects and lead project management for the insurance research agenda for the insurance sector of the Center for Financial Services (“the Center”), part of the firm’s Research & Insights group. The candidate will report to the Insurance sector research leader. The candidate will be a hands-on writer, researcher, and will also help manage the operations/workflow of the insurance research team.
The Center’s insurance sector team is responsible for creating high-quality content for use by end-clients (insurers across P&C, L&A, and Group insurance sectors) and our client service professionals in the Insurance practice. This content can come in the form of research reports, articles and features, client presentations, webcasts and podcasts, blog posts, etc. These deliverables integrate information from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, including surveys, forecasting, text analysis, case studies, third-party research and databases, analyst reports, government publications, industry commentaries, and news articles.
The Insurance Research Manager’s key responsibilities are to:Work with diverse teams and provide timely feedback and coaching to more junior team members on their workManage discussions with senior stakeholders related to projectsDevelop and deliver presentations to executives and practitioners at internal and external eventsConduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis, case study development, survey design and analysis, and executive interviewsManage critical project management processes, including proposal development, project workflow, resources, and milestonesLead idea generation and ensure the research projects address future industry challengesWrite compelling narratives using primary and secondary source researchBuild effective working relationships with practice leadership and subject matter experts within the firm and the external marketplaceCollaborate with marketing, PR, and client service professionals, etc. to deploy thought leadership to our clients and the broader marketplaceThe successful candidate will have the ability to analyze data and write articles and papers based on primary and secondary source research, as well as have a strong understanding of the insurance industry and be passionate about developing “ahead of the curve” provocative thinking.QualificationsRequired:Undergraduate degreeAt least 7-10 years professional experience related to the insurance industryExcellent writing skills with an ability to structure arguments and write in a compelling and clear wayStrong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to think creatively, generate research ideas, and solve research problemsDemonstrated experience in project and team managementStrong people skills that create credibility to both influence executive-level strategic thinking and create demand for new research initiativesAbility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyTri-state or Boston location base preferredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureThe wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
