About Us:
Optometric Vision Therapy helps individuals who struggle with vision problems such as difficulty reading, poor spatial awareness, poor depth perception, and overall poor visual performance. Vision therapy helps rehabilitate these problems and allows them to improve academics, reading ability, excel at sports, complete their work more quickly, use the computer without eyestrain, and improve their self-confidence overall! We help people of all ages, including special needs, ADD/ADHD, post-concussion, and autism. You will be endlessly fascinated seeing how people process their vision and helping them to identify areas that they are struggling. Job description:
A vision therapist works with children and adults, training and coaching them to improve their vision skills. It’s like physical therapy for your eyes and your brain, teaching them how to work together. This position is currently designed to also split time at the front desk, and about 30% of your hours will be spent in the front office doing administrative work.
Hired applicant will participate in a comprehensive training program:
– Initial training involves learning administrative skills in the front office.
– Progression toward direct patient care with testing and therapy when the level of skill and comfort is attained through the following timeline:
– First month of vision therapy training consists of observation and study.
– Within the first 3 months you transition to direct patient care.
– After 6 months you take on advanced cases.
– After two years you can become a certified vision therapist.
Additional job duties:
· Running optometric and visual perceptual testing with patients for visual skills including eye tracking, eye teaming, eye focusing
· Guiding patients through training sessions on therapeutic procedures
· Special projects that are suited to your individual skill set
· Assist the front office staff with administrative functions including answering phones, patient check-in, scheduling, collecting payments, etc.
Qualified applicant requirements:
· Administer appropriate vision tests in a professional, attentive, and caring manner
· Must enjoy working with families and being around children
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and willingness to learn new computer systems
· Adept with organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills
· Attention to detail
· Other helpful experience includes a background in education, psychology, biology, or experience in the medical field.
