The variety of programs are designed to provide comprehensive substance use recovery services to individuals who are struggling with substance use with or without a co-occurring disorder. These individuals may also have a history of involvement with the juvenile justice system, criminal justice system, child welfare system, or the welfare-to-work program. SUDRS staff provides services in a variety of settings including clinics, probation departments, and courts, while working in collaboration with various community partners.
The Deputy Director of Substance Use Disorder & Recovery Services* shall be responsible for supervising and evaluating the Program Managers assigned to each respective program under SUDRS by providing recommendations and guidance; coordinating staffing patterns related to organizational and program needs; and participating in the investigation of disciplinary concerns as they arise including recommendations to the Department Director for appropriate level of action.
Background Check: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent U.S. resident.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates). A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. Statewide and national travel is occasionally required.
Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral science, human services, social work, counseling, psychology, public health, or business/public administration.

Experience: Two (2) years of high-level management experience in a large, complex mental health agency, public health agency, forensic health care services, or human services organization which provides social work services. Qualifying experience must include responsibility for program planning and development, personnel administration, operations, and budget/fiscal administration.
