Job Title: Regional Head of Compliance and Data Protection Officer
Job Location: Anywhere in Americas Region
We have an exciting opportunity as Regional Head of Compliance and Data Protection Officer (RCO + RDPO).
The RCO + RDPO is an integral part of Deutsche Post DHL´s Compliance Organization. The RCO sets up and coordinates the regional Compliance Management System and Data Protection Management System in alignment with the Business Unit Compliance Officer (BUCO). He/She heads up a team of 16 Country Compliance Representatives, 8 Compliance Champions and 12 Data Protection Officials in 14 countries and 1 GSC Sites in functional reporting lines. He/She also leads a team of 1 Sub-Regional Compliance Officer for US, Canada directly reporting to RCO + RDPO. He/She covers 14 countries for DGF in AM region with 7,350+ total FTEs and 1 GSC sites in AM with 2900+ FTEs. He/She owns a budget of approx. TEUR 77,414 for 2020.
Objectives
- Identify and agree with Regional Management and the BUCO the compliance and data protection needs in the Region
- Manage, guide, coordinate/align Country Compliance Representatives and Data Protection Officials in DGF Americas region
- Set up and coordinate a Compliance and Data Protection Management System and organization to meet these needs
- Ensure compliance policies ( e.g. Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption and Business Ethics Policy) and Data Protection policies/ requirements are implemented in the Region (as applicable), ensure adherence to compliance standards, legal requirements and data protection legislation
- Maintain compliance processes in the Region including, but not limited to, data protection, incident management, business partner screening, compliance risk assessment, hospitality reporting, handling of customer compliance requests and compliance reporting
- Provide insight, best practice, guidance and integrated compliance solutions to business
- Driving and controlling training initiatives and other methods to raise awareness on compliance and data protection topics and acceptable behaviour on regional and country level
- Facilitating regular Compliance risk assessment workshops on regional, country or (if appropriate) business unit level, identifying and managing compliance (including data protection) risks according to the Global Compliance Risk Catalogue including recording, maintenance and follow-up of the results and activities
- Completing and storing various answers and documentations to customer compliance requests in close cooperation with relevant Business Units
- Issuing regular comprehensive compliance reports to Regional Management and the BUCO
- Being a highly visible “central point of contact” in the region for all matters related to compliance and data protection and promoting a culture of openness for reporting compliance concerns breaches or risks
- Coordinate with business, third parties and GBS Procurement to facilitate due diligence of suppliers, vendors, agents; coordinating regular reviews and documentation
- Participate in compliance initiatives of industry bodies and other external associations
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of legal, regulatory compliance, or related experience required
- Strong problem solving skills that are pragmatic, which demonstrates a strong understanding of the business
- Degree in Logistics, Business Management, Finance, Corporate Law or equivalent, with senior management experience in an international service related environment
- Fluent English and Spanish language skills
- Strong presentation, communication and influencing skills
- Role model in compliance and business ethics
