Summary: The Accounting Manager for Indirect Tax and Accounting Regulatory will be responsible for tax strategy, regulatory compliance and operations, including process and policy development, planning and modeling as it relates to ad valorem tax, sales & use tax, severance tax, 1099 reporting, oil & gas regulatory items and other areas as may become necessary. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for helping with operational strategies that directly influence the processes and functions within their area of responsibility and will manage and maintain the adequacy of the internal control environment. The Accounting Manager will work directly with and manage the work of external consultants related to indirect taxes and regulatory. Furthermore, the Accounting Manager will participate in the external audit process, working with the external audit firm and internal business process owners as necessary. The Accounting Manager will exhibit an experienced level of knowledge within the functional area and serve as a principal spokesperson for the company as it relates to indirect taxes and regulatory matters.
A successful candidate will have a proven record of leading and growing a high performing team through thoughtful leadership. Ideally, our candidate is comfortable and effective in a rapidly changing environment and will partner closely with the leaders of accounting functions, as well as a broad group of cross-functional business teams in order to provide guidance, and support well informed decisions. The individual must be a self-starter, fast learner and capable of taking full ownership of their areas of responsibility. They will be expected to anticipate and surface issues, solve problems and recommend solutions, while exercising good business judgment and risk management. This role also requires strong communication skills to effectively facilitate information flow between the business areas as well as with consultants, and to participate in discussion with executives. Effective time management and prioritization skills in managing multiple projects are essential to the success of this role.
