Job Title: Digital Marketing and Design Coordinator-Intern II

Position Summary: Performs mid-level professional communications for the City Communications Department, consistent with the organization’s values and mission statement.
Supervision Exercised and Received: This position works under the general supervision of the City of Aspen Communications Director or designee.
Essential Job Functions:
Social Media and Communications:
Update and manage website content.
Assist with internal employee communications including but not limited to the intranet and newsletters.
Monitor, collect, and analyze data for effective social media content creation and/or implementation.
Provides research, writing, and editing information to develop content for promotional use.
Consistently implement design and branding guidelines for departments City-wide.
Design media assets for use on digital platforms.
May participate in project management and execution of events, community engagement, or communication plans.
Conceptualize and analyze solutions for public information assignments.
Proof and edit written materials.
Use graphic design skills to create collateral for public distribution and social media content. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva preferred.
Coordinates and develops storytelling and incorporating City values and work priorities into content.
Administrative and clerical support.

Regulations : Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes and/or statutes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Fast-learner, ability to multi-task, responsible, reliable, and self-motivated. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience in communications, content creation, graphic design, marketing and/or public relations.
Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in the following areas: Microsoft Outlook Email, Content Management systems, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, Social Media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn and a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms.
Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.
Preferred Candidate: Civic plus, content management systems, website, graphic design, and video editing experience. Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and Hootsuite is a plus.
NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
