Dillon Transportation, LLC is currently hiring a Full-time Diesel Mechanic for its Kingman, Arizona location.
SUMMARY
In this position, the associate regularly inspects, repairs, adjusts, and maintains the safe operation of transmissions, brakes, steering apparatus, and various other parts of the motor vehicle, maintains a safe work environment, performs DOT inspections, fills in for absent employees, and assists other diesel mechanics. In addition, the associate may be reassigned to other departments to balance the workload.

1. Collaborate with other diesel mechanics to help maintain 50+ fleet units.
2. Diagnose and repair issues with hydraulic, brakes, transmission, steering and other systems in diesel engines.
3. Diagnose engine fault codes, wiring diagnostics, exhaust filtration, and regeneration systems.
4. Replace malfunctioned parts.
5. Test drive trailers to ensure everything works properly.
6. Perform welding on trailers and other equipment as necessary.
7. Order parts and prepare work orders.
8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
9. Perform DOT inspections and annual inspections of vehicle systems.
10. Ensure the safety of employees and general public by making quality repairs.
11. Communicate consistently with maintenance clerks, Director of Maintenance, as well as the Dispatch department.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Perform other duties as assigned.
2. May be temporarily re-assigned to train new associates and/or perform duties and responsibilities of other positions including those outside incumbent’s assigned department. The re-assignment will be at the discretion of the associate’s supervisor and/or management.
3. Must be able to perform the Company’s housekeeping procedures effectively.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.
1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or one year of experience and/or training in diesel engine repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Must possess a CDL Class A License with a safe driving record (no more than 1 minor accident in past 3 years).
3. Minimum of 1 year of CDL Class A experience is required.
4. Must have computer and mechanical skills.
5. Must have strong analytical skills.
6. Possess strong verbal and communication skills and be able to communicate effectively.
7. Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements
1. Must be able work well with other employees and function as a team.
2. Must be able to lift 75 pounds regularly.
3. Must be able to stand, sit, climb, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, pull, push, carry, etc. for extended periods of time. (uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue).
4. Must be able to use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and/or arms.
5. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
6. Must have good hand-eye coordination.
7. Must have the ability to calmly and efficiently handle situations ranging from routine to emergency.
8. Must be able to give attention to detail and accuracy
9. Must have the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written, oral, and/or diagram form instructions.
10. Must possess the ability to solve problems and draw logical conclusions to make successful repairs quickly in various situations
11. Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make logical decisions in supporting company’s demands
12. Must be able to build solid working relationships with team members, Dillon Transportation employees and vendors.
13. Must be able to comply with all Company safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment.
