Key Responsibilities:

As the Director of Accounting, you will be an integral part of our financial team, reporting directly to the SVP Chief Financial Officer. Your responsibilities will include:

• Financial Leadership: Managing the day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department, ensuring that accounting practices and procedures adhere to GAAP and the NCUA Accounting Manual. Achieving departmental goals with precision and efficiency.
• Team Development: Continuously coaching and developing your team, identifying training and career development opportunities, and providing the necessary training to maximize their potential.
• Financial Reporting: Overseeing the preparation of financial statements, cash flow reports, liquidity reports, and investment reports to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Reconciliation: Ensure timely completion and review of monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and Custodial Accounts.
• Budget Management: Coordinating and preparing the annual operating budget and forecasts in collaboration with other departments.
• Net Interest Margin Optimization: Making recommendations to maximize net interest margin through deposit and loan pricing strategies.
• Asset Liability Management (ALM): Understanding various ALM strategies and analyzing their impact on the credit union’s net economic value, profitability, and ALM Policy.
• Investment Portfolio Management: Managing the credit union’s investment portfolio, including cash and Fed Funds, while monitoring daily liquidity positions and compliance with relevant policies.
• Regulatory Compliance: Preparing and submitting various external reports/files, such as NCUA 5300 Report, CLF, FHLB, FRB2900 Report, IRS 945 filing, and more. Acting as a liaison for audits and the NCUA exam.
• Policy Updates: Updating the credit union’s Investment Policy as required, conducting comprehensive credit analyses, and making recommendations for additions and deletions to the list.
• Risk Management: Reviewing the credit union’s fidelity bond and business liability insurance, assessing risk exposure, and making recommendations to minimize risk.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a banking or credit union environment.
• Leadership experience in a goal-oriented, service-conscious company.
• A passion for continuous improvement and collaboration.
