Dove Solutions Hiring for Low Voltage Technician/Cable Technician Job at Omaha, NE Full Time

The technician is expected to assist with all aspects of the cable installation process; including: pathway construction, network closet build-out, cable terminations, and labeling. In addition, the Cable Technician will be called upon to assist with inventory, equipment staging and be expected to grow autonomous in these duties as they progress in their career at Prime. While assisting, the Apprentice is learning from more senior technicians and constantly growing their skill set. Some of this learning is on-the-job and, a portion is in a classroom/workshop environment and some is independent study (on-line). It is vital that the Technician invests in themselves to get up to speed with the core competencies required for success.

It is important to note that the majority of work will be performed within healthcare organizations, such as hospitals and clinics. The candidate must be comfortable in such an environment.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

• Installation of cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings, fire sleeves).

• Installation of low-voltage cabling, including (Cat 5/6, RG-5/6, Fiber Optic and Heliax)

• Dress and route cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work areas.

• Build out telecommunication and equipment rooms.

• Fire-stop various types of cable penetrations.

• Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for cabling

• Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies.

• Submit accurate daily time and expense entries.

• Perform other duties as needs arise.

• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

• Must be able to terminate and test cat5/6 cable according to Prime performance expectations

• Must be able to terminate and test RG-5/6 cable according to Prime performance expectations

• Must have experience with installing low-voltage cabling in commercial environments

• Be flexible and adaptable

• Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as project requires.

• Ability to effectively explain every aspect of the structured cabling system including pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, backbone copper, backbone fiber optic, cross and inter-connections, and testing.

• Ability to understand and adhere to applicable codes, standards, and industry-best practices.

• Ability to choose the correct tools and methodology for the given task.

Qualifications and Education

• High School Diploma or GED

• BICSI certifications preferred

• 1-3 year(s) work experience in structured cabling

• Ability to read, write and understand English

• Possess good oral and written communication skills

• Able to distinguish colors

• Must have a valid driver’s license

• Ability to travel 90-95% of the time.

• Demonstrated teamwork and versatility in integrating into multiple work environments.

• Be able to lift 50 pounds

• Be able to climb and work on ladders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 – $30.00 per hour
