EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing and 6 or more years of experience which would demonstrate the skills necessary to adequately perform essential duties. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, problem solving ability and be detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines. Must have knowledge of the scriptures and have a sense of calling to this ministry. Must be willing to cultivate relationships with potential mid-major and major donors.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Design and implement planning for developing new sources of major gifts from individuals, business, corporations and foundations while retaining current donors; develop and cultivate relationships to significantly increase annual revenue generated from all donor types. Plan and manage projects and programs for developing major gifts, foundation and corporate gifts. Demonstrate success and evidence of the ability to plan and execute within the following specific areas: Marketing, Community relations, major donors, press and media, grants; participate and take lead role in the events team; participate in the church partnerships and mission conferences team. Provide the strategic vision for continuous increases in donors and donor giving. Prepares and executes an annual strategic business plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works closely with Executive Vice president/COO, President/CEO and Executive Vice President/CFO, develops and implements a strategic development plan for significantly and continually increasing revenue from foundation, corporate and major gift potentials of the donor base and the community at large while integrating the vision, core values and culture of DRM.
2. Plans, develops, executes and maintains strategies for continually obtaining private donations; identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects to include individuals, corporations and foundations.
3. Work directly with Executive Vice Presidents to closely monitor success of fundraising efforts to meet current approved budget, meet revenue targets and strategic goals; provide monthly summary.
4. Serves as a visible spokesperson and advocate for DRM and its programs in the community.
5. Identifies and utilizes resources effectively, including volunteers, staff, publications and media to identify major donor prospects and maintain a positive public relations policy.
6. Implements systematic efforts to identify, solicit, steward, maintain and upgrade annual giving donors. Visits with donors and potential donors regarding deferred gifts, mid-donors, corporate relations and capital gifts. May involve working with attorneys and gaining a working knowledge of estate planning and charitable trusts.
7. Assist individuals in completing specific gift plans; considering the donor’s needs, benefits and objectives.
8. Lead development in fundraising events and participate as staff liaison for capital campaign.
9. Promote the concept of Christian stewardship to the ministry through donations, bequests, gifts-in-kind or other tangible contribution. Keeps current on fundraising best practices and trends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time; reaching, lifting 30 lbs. unassisted required; ability to communicate, read, count and write; ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates.
