Senior Director of Distribution

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic-minded individual to fill the role of Senior Director of Distribution within an esteemed retail organization. As the Senior Director of Distribution, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective distribution of goods throughout our retail network. Your primary focus will be to optimize our supply chain, enhance operational processes, and drive overall productivity while ensuring a seamless flow of products from the distribution centers to our retail stores. This pivotal position will require strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of supply chain management in the retail industry.

Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive distribution strategies aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. Continuously evaluate and optimize the distribution network to accommodate business growth and changing market demands.
• Supply Chain Management: Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and transportation. Implement best practices to reduce lead times, minimize costs, and improve overall efficiency.
• Distribution Center Operations: Direct and manage all distribution center operations, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. Develop performance metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of distribution center activities.
• Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing distribution team. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the distribution department.
• Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers and other key vendors. Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to achieve cost-effective and reliable logistics services.
• Technology and Systems: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in distribution technology. Implement and leverage appropriate systems and tools to optimize distribution processes.
• Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to distribution, transportation, and safety.
• Performance Analysis: Regularly assess distribution performance and identify areas for improvement. Develop and execute action plans to address any inefficiencies or challenges.
• Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage the distribution budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as Procurement, Operations, and Retail to align distribution activities with overall business objectives and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven track record of at least 10 years in supply chain management, with significant experience in distribution and logistics, ideally within the retail industry.
• Demonstrated success in leading and managing large distribution teams and operations.
• Deep knowledge of distribution strategies, supply chain best practices, and industry trends.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Ability to adapt to change, think strategically, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience in implementing distribution-related technologies and systems.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen eye for detail.
