Our EBSCO Information system Engineering team is focused on continuously improving the fast and reliable access to Configuration and Ebsco experience. In this role, you will research, analyze, design, develop and sustain a large-scale, information retrieval system running on AWS platform and building, testing, and deploying Java-based microservices. You will actively participate in modernization activities for the config stack leveraging AWS and UI technologies.
As a member of an Agile development team, you will design, develop, and demonstrate software in 1- or 2-week iterations as part of an Agile Release Train developing to a SAFe Program Increment. You will make commitments to the business and meet those commitments as a team. You will strive for continuous improvement in knowledge and productivity and display a pattern of continual learning and a desire to broaden your software development and design skills.
What you’ll do – Primary Responsibilities:
Design and develop software components and tools to extend and enhance our Config systems
Provide expertise on system architecture, design, implementation, testing and delivery of Java-based microservices to support Configuration system components and interfaces
Collaborate with teammates to refine and prioritize requirements, estimate, and scope work.
Collaborate with teammates on decisions/solutions related to Ebsco Experience engine.
Collaborate with teammates in documenting technologies, systems, and tools
Assist in troubleshooting search problems and repairing defects
Work directly with product management and your team while analyzing and decomposing complex software requirements into simple user stories for planning and execution.
Leverage and contribute building an application using state of the art homegrown CI/CD pipeline in AWS using CloudFormation templates and AWS reference architecture
Demonstrate ownership of developed components from development through production.
Research, prototype and present enhancements and technologies.
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or other Technical related degree or equivalent experience.
2+ years experience with OOA/OOD and OO programming using core Java
1+ years experience developing, deploying, tuning large scale, high-performance distributed systems.
1+ years of experience in large systems software design and development with hands-on experience in APIs, RESTful Web Services, XML/JSON, HTTP, SSL.
1+ years of one or more JavaScript frameworks (React, AngularJS, Node.js) and JavaScript libraries.
1+ Years of AWS
Experience working in Agile teams that leverage CI/CD tools; Proficiency with Agile and/or SAFe methodology
Proficiency with source code management tools such as GitHub
Proficiency with Agile and/or SAFe methodology
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of writing strong unit tests using various tools / libraries and Automated Testing with Junit, Jmeter.
1+ years of understanding and working in CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins or other similar tools
Solid understanding of core algorithms and data structures
Experience with database systems (Relational/SQL, No-SQL, Graph Databases)
Performance testing strategies and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to create diagrams, charts, and graphs to convey concepts both to engineering staff and management
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
Experience in delivering public API’s, including style, versioning, evolution, management, gateway is a plus
