We are the social safety net in action for our clients who need critical services, and we are the community center for our members who want a place to gather and take care of the health, education, and well-being of their families.JOB DESCRIPTIONReporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Writer will manage a portfolio of new and existing foundation and government funders that support (1) agency general operations and (2) our older adult services division. Comprised of four different programs – the Sirovich Center for Balanced Living, Weinberg Center for Balanced Living, the Co-op Village Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC), and Project ORE – that reach over 5,000 people annually, our older adult services division provides members with a range of educational, recreational, and social services in a welcoming environment that engage both the mind and the body. Depending on the specific site, participants can take advantage of a hot meal; physical fitness classes; pottery, painting, knitting, and other arts workshops; choral groups and musical performances; creative writing, drama, and theater classes; and community advocacy and social events.As a grant writer, you will be responsible for leading and managing the process of developing letters of inquiry and writing narrative grant proposals and reports to a range of current and prospective private foundations and government agencies. You will work closely with program staff to develop high quality programs that meet the needs of our community; partner with finance to develop budgets, budget narratives, and financial reports; and collaborate with Research and Evaluation to analyze program data and outcomes for use in communication with funders. Finally, you will manage grants and contracts from pre-proposal through award, reporting, and closeout.SCOPE OF INFLUENCE+ Inside the agency the grant writer will collaborate with program staff, other members of our development and communications team, senior executive team members, research and evaluation, and finance staff.+ Outside the agency this individual will be expected to collaborate with Foundation, Corporate, and Government Officers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESFundraising+ Lead the preparation of concept notes, letters of inquiry, and grant proposals and narrative reports for a variety of funders – tailoring your writing to suit major institutional foundations, government agencies, small family foundations, and in some instances, individual donors.+ Analyze Request for Proposals (RFP), prepare written RFP summaries for program staff, and lead meetings with program staff to discuss RFPs that are up for consideration.+ Perform prospect research to support existing and new programs and create or update funder profiles and briefing materials, as necessary.+ Identify new prospective institutional donors and develop strategies to approach those donors.+ Cultivate relationships with funders.+ Plan and manage site visits for prospective and existing funders – prepare senior team to meet with donors.+ Use a variety of sources to describe Educational Alliance’s programs using culturally competent language that reflects the communities we serve.+ Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the team and agency as a whole.Project Management+ Provide project management, ensuring that project stakeholders have reviewed and provided feedback on proposals in a timely manner, and obtaining final approval.+ Take ownership of a portfolio of Educational Alliance programs – managing funder priorities and all contractual reporting requirements.Tracking+ Collaborate with finance staff to project likely revenue from all donors in portfolio.+ Document all solicitations and gifts using appropriate department procedures.JOB QUALIFICATIONSWe know not everyone has each qualification, so if you think you would be a good fit, we encourage you to apply!+ BA or BS degree.+ 2+ years’ experience in grant writing for large institutional foundations and government agencies (including City and State agencies).+ Superior writing and editing skills.+ Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.+ Computer literacy, including with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs, as well as Teams and Zoom.+ Strong communications and interpersonal skills.+ Ability to make judgment calls in a variety of situations.+ Ability to work collaboratively with staff that have different backgrounds, experiences, and competencies.+ Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized with the ability to prioritize deadlines.BENEFITSSalary: $60,000 a year plus benefits, detailed below.We offer competitive salaries, paid time off, excellent benefits including but not limited to comprehensive health insurance, 403 (b) retirement plan, free gym membership at the Manny Cantor Fitness Center / 14th Street Y, and a pleasant working environment.EA is committed to workplace diversity and inclusion.
