SUMMARY
Assists in the administration of various human resources functions including but not limited to policies and procedures, hiring practices, benefit plans, unemployment, and general correspondence by performing the following duties. This position is located onsite at our Muskegon, Michigan facility and will travel to our Sunfield, Michigan location as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.
Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate personnel.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Provides administrative support to the HR department.
Supports payroll functions including timecard reviews, answers employee questions, investigates inaccuracies, and refers more complex questions to appropriate personnel.
Processes status changes and reviews and handles routine worker’s compensation claims.
Maintains employee benefit files and other record keeping. Monitors that this is done consistently throughout the company.
Maintains employment status records such as attendance, head count, and other employee data integral to HR metrics.
Maintains and updates policies and procedures as directed.
Performs new employee orientations.
Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.
Maintains applicant tracking system for assigned locations.
Reviews applications for entry-level positions; conducts and schedules preliminary interviews.
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of general office systems, preferably Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Demonstrated ability of high level written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
