Known for beautifully crafted bikes and e-bikes and unparalleled comfort, leading global lifestyle bicycle manufacturer Electra Bicycle Company is looking for an exceptionally creative Graphic Designer who will play an integral part in bringing our brand, and bikes and accessories products to life through impactful and innovative designs.
You will be responsible for bringing an uncompromising bar of quality to the look and feel of both physical and brand experiences. The ideal candidate will showcase innovative design, mastery of print/pre-press production, packaging, and experience on current digital landscapes. This position requires strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as great attention to detail. Must work well under pressure while thinking in an artistic, technical, and manufacturing mindset. Must have a very good understanding of color theory and a command of visual and communication design principles including excellent typography and layout.
This position will be based at Electra’s headquarters in Encinitas, CA and a great working environment and fantastic people are perks to joining the Electra family.
Responsibilities:
– Concept, create and deliver strong, focused, global brand vision across various branded materials including but not limited to digital advertising, website and other digital assets, brochures, presentations, video content, POP and visual merchandising.
– Follow multiple development timelines to ensure tasks are being completed on time.
– Able to function independently and in a team environment working collaboratively with other Designers, Art Director, Creative Director, Product teams, Project Managers, cross functional teams, as well as factories and vendors.
– Candidate must have a mastery over file management, buildout, layers, swatches, etc. and be able to seamlessly hand off clean files to other members of the team.
– Maintains company creative standards and consistency.
– This role requires strong knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and the ability to take art from sketches to 2-dimensional vector drawing to 3-dimensional physical forms of various sizes, as well as communicate graphic fit and color with many vendors around the world.
– Verify and maintain multiple color samples sent from vendors in different materials and provide timely and accurate feedback.
– Build and clearly communicate placement guides to inform factories of graphics intentions and expectations.
– Expert in file preparation, package and spec files for print/web/mobile, working closely with external teams and vendors (i.e. proofing, color-matching, exporting GIFs, and approving for print).
– Contributing to concepting, group brainstorms and new idea sharing.
– Send out sample materials to vendors.
– Work with a fun group of designers.
Requirements:
– Ability to balance multiple design projects, stay on task and meet tight deadlines.
– Continuously ask questions and find opportunities for improvement.
– Must have a positive attitude and bring great energy to the team.
– Excellent organization skills with extreme attention to detail.
– Must be able to work well under pressure.
– Looking for left and right brain thinkers – must be able to create in design, technical and in manufacturing mindsets.
– Must have strong Adobe InDesign/Creative Suite knowledge and skills.
– Minimum of 3-5 years of applied graphic design experience required. Product graphics experience preferred.
– Leave your ego at the door – must be able to handle feedback well.
– Must be a self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative.
– Keeping up with current and upcoming trends within the industry, pushing out of the box creative/conceptual thinking.
– Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
– Image manipulation/retouch and color correction skills a plus.
– It would be awesome, but not mandatory, if the Designer has:
– Experience applying graphics to 3D objects.
– Knowledge of paint & decal processes.
