Installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems, equipment and appurtenant fixtures; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancy: There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Transportation Services. Transportation Rail Division. Under the general supervision of the Building and Equipment Maintenance Superintendent, travels and participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical plants, wiring systems, equipment, and appurtenances for all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Rail Facilities Management and Maintenance Branch.
Special Working Conditions: Work may involve high voltage electrical equipment and systems. This position serves as a Disaster Response Worker and may be called to work while on off-duty status in response to emergencies and natural disasters. Work will involve working at heights and require fall protection. May require working beyond the normal workday and on weekends, as necessary, to meet schedules and deadlines. Employee shall provide a valid after-hours contact number.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of an Electrician.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the theory of electricity; practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the electrical trade; installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, apparatus, and instruments; laws, rules and standards pertaining to electrical construction and maintenance work; hazards involved in working around energized lines and equipment; and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans and diagrams of electrical circuits; plan electrical wiring installation; use appropriate tools, electrical equipment and apparatus; install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment; estimate material requirements; work with dexterity and safety; understand and follow oral and written instructions; maintain good working relationships with others; handle weights and loads.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
1) Valid Hawaii State journey level electrician’s license, at the time of application.
