Our pet transport company is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, preparing and filing tax returns, and overseeing the day-to-day bookkeeping operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, knowledge of tax laws and regulations, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Manage the company’s financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger
– Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, and maintain proper documentation and records
– Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax
– Monitor tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for tax savings
– Conduct regular financial analysis and reporting to assist with strategic decision-making and planning
– Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including data entry, reconciliations, and bank deposits
– Develop and implement accounting procedures and controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency of financial operations
– Work closely with other departments to provide financial guidance and support
– Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities to support business planning and growth
– Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements
– Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
– Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, tax preparation, and bookkeeping
– Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax codes
– Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar programs
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial issues
– Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external partners
– Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
– Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word
