Job Summary:
Support the activities of the government reporting department to assure minimum legal tax risk through ethical means for the benefit.
Job Responsibilities:
20% Plan, analyze, maintain, and coordinate feeder system information to the tax reporting tool to ensure timely and accurate reporting of transactions and information. This includes testing operations of systems and identifying necessary corrections.
Execute processes and reconcile tax information accounting data to ensure data integrity and governance. Support the team in reconciling and resolving differences in tax reporting data. Partner with business units to research feeder system reconciling issues to determine root cause and develop process and/or technology solutions to minimize future reconciling issues.
20% Ensure that the customer receives expected level of communication on requests and issues presented and understands the resolution. Act as a resource for and make recommendations of administration policies in accordance with regulatory requirements. Coordinate with the team to communicate and document necessary procedural changes. Work with the team to research Internal Revenue Service documentation, including regulations, instructions, and publications to develop appropriate reporting procedures each year.
15% Support withholding tax compliance function by ensuring timely and accurate filing of federal and state tax return reviews including but not limited to Federal 941 and 941-Xs, and 945 and 945-Xs.
20% Support a cooperative and collaborative approach to working with various operational teams within and outside of Corporate Finance and Accounting. Oversee all areas of Tax Information administration, including reporting to federal and state agencies and form requirements. This includes products and services that support group, participant and plan level recordkeeping, transactional processes, and quality control. Business units supported include Employee Benefits (EB), Retirement Plans (RP), Individual Annuities, Human Resources (HR), Standard Mortgage Investors (SMI), Payroll, and Accounts Payable
15% Execute operational efficiencies through utilizing Lean problem-solving methodology, including but not limited to A3 and value stream mapping, to support cross functional efforts aimed at creating capacity to support sustainable growth and improve organization performance and customer experience.
10% Support documentation requests to ensure adequate resources are available so that all audits and associated requests are completed with agreed upon time limits. Assist in federal audits by preparing responses to complex requests.

Qualifications:
Job Specifications: (Include education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.
Experience: Five to Seven years progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting or tax, , or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. Experience analyzing complex transaction, processes or policies and documenting conclusions in memorandums or ad hoc deliverables. Demonstrated ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve processes or services.
Professional certification: CPA or MBA preferred
