An Engineering Technician I performs routine, elementary, and manual work in engineering field surveying and inspection; learns the operation of surveying instruments; and performs other related duties as required.
Engineering Technician I (SR-07) may progress up the career ladder to an Engineering Technician V (SR-19). However, the Engineering Technician series DOES NOT PROGRESS TO THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER SERIES, such as Civil Engineer I-V, Electrical Engineer I-V, or Mechanical Engineer I-V.

There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Design & Construction, Land Division. Under the direct supervision of the Engineering Technician V, the position performs routine, elementary and manual work involved in engineering field surveying. Work involves field surveying outside of the office in various locations around Oahu.
Special Working Conditions: May perform survey work in traffic, climb mountains, hazardous terrain and conditions (forest, swamp, streams, shoreline, construction site, etc.).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid Hawaii State driver’s license, as required.
(The current vacancy requires a driver’s license (Type 3), prior to appointment.)
