EquipmentShare is searching for another Assistant Controller to support our growing Accounting team in Columbia, Mo.

EquipmentShare is dedicated to creating a connected jobsite for the modern contractor. As we continue to scale our product offerings, services and markets, we need an Assistant Controller to lead our accounting department and help us grow with financial strategy and stability.

While running their construction companies, brothers Willy and Jabbok Schlacks were frustrated with the options they had for renting equipment. Renting was expensive, but owning a piece of equipment was just as costly; plus, it came with long-term maintenance expenses. Contractors didn’t have good choices when it came to renting and owning equipment.

With more than 40 years of combined construction experience, they decided it was time to do things differently and build something, for once, for contractors. The brothers originally founded EquipmentShare as a peer-to-peer rental platform at Startup Weekend in Columbia, Missouri, in 2014 and proceeded to catapult their vision to market when they applied and were accepted into Y Combinator’s accelerator program in Mountain View, California, in 2015.

In just four years, EquipmentShare has evolved greatly as a business and expanded across the U.S. with our brick-and-mortar rental locations and we’ve captured customers in nearly every state with our cloud-connected telematics platform Track. Your Opportunity to Grow with Us

Our Assistant Controller will help supervise and lead our accounting department with the Controller, so our ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed and ready to serve as an advocate for EquipmentShare culture. He or she will help our Controller with accounting activities and hold our team to a high standard of accuracy and timeliness. The Assistant Controller will also ensure the proper recording of company transactions and help produce financial and other key reports for management. Responsibilities:

• Performing certain month-end close procedures
• Perform account reconciliations and account detail review to ensure balances reported are accurate and complete
• Perform accounting for certain aspects of the growing company
• Analyze financials to understand trends and ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Assist the accounting department as needed with accounting and process questions
• Be a key player in the financial audit. Prepare audit requests timely and accurately
• Be a key player in system implementations, testing, and training
• Create and document processes, as well as identify controls. Work with Controller to put these in place and help with training to effect these procedures
• Ability to draw conclusions and apply accounting guidance
• Manage team members and continue to train and develop their skill set
• Additional duties as assigned by Management, including analysis and reporting

What You’re Working With:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA preferred and/or at least 5 years of experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, including interpreting and applying the guidance.
• Desire to work in the details to understand the numbers, ensure accuracy, and be capable of doing analysis to explain variances.
• Detail-oriented individual who strives for accuracy and is organized.
• Self-starter who is able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and capable of adapting quickly to change. Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
• High level of integrity, trust, and confidentiality required. Must be dependable.
