Kids Co. is looking for the HR Generalist to join our diverse administrative team in a heart of historic Ballard. HR Generalist will oversee the daily functions of the Human Resources department including full-cycle recruitment; compensation, benefits, and leave administration; payroll supervision; policy and procedure development; regulatory compliance and reporting; employee relations and performance management; employee safety; company-employee communication; investigations and conflict resolution. The nature of our services is in-person and we have an office-centric approach for the administrative team however partial remote work may be an option after 3-months of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with the leadership team to understand, develop, and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
Establish hiring procedures including application, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding processes.
Execute full-cycle recruiting process (coordinate across departments to determine staffing needs, create job descriptions and requisitions, promote job postings, review resumes, conduct initial phone screens, schedule interviews with hiring managers, extend job offers, process and sign employment paperwork, facilitate new hire onboarding including background checks, enter new hire data into HRIS and maintain database of candidate records).
Prepare employee separation documents and conduct exit interviews sharing results with upper management as appropriate.
Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive pay and benefit programs. Negotiate benefit renewal contracts that are cost-effective and employee-serving.
Administer benefit programs such as medical insurance, pension plans, vacation, PTO, sick leave, and leave of absence. Recommend changes when appropriate.
Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing. Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
Work with Director of Operations to develop and administer training plans for leadership staff on interviewing, labor laws and legal issues, discipline and documentation, workplace harassment, and other best practices in leadership and HR.
Work with program leadership team to ensure staff evaluations and reviews are being updated and administered as scheduled.
Partner with managers to promptly and thoroughly investigate employee relations issues by maintaining thorough documentation and analyzing incidents, ensuring confidentiality if appropriate.
Serve as a contact for employees and managers regarding company practices and policies, communicating complex and sensitive information regarding benefits, leaves of absence, and payroll inquiries, handling confidential information with discretion.
Work with managers on documenting workplace injuries and managing claims with the Dept. of L&I.
Develop, recommend, and implement HR policies & procedures and prepare/maintain handbook.
Identify, implement, and monitor legal requirements and reporting regulations affecting the human resource function, and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
Manage a process of organizational planning that evaluates company structure, job design, and personnel forecasting throughout the company. Make recommendations to executive management.
Keep the executive team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
Prepare and monitor annual budget for Human Resources department.
Perform a variety of routine tasks including personnel record management, HRIS and payroll database updates, time sheet audit, warning notice reviews, unemployment claims processing, etc.
