Benefits Specialist

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30-5:30PM
Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account, Leave of Absence, FMLA, and 401K plan.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Notify newly eligible employees of benefit options within the eligibility period
- Perform various audits of benefit plans to endure accuracy and compliance
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
- Works with vendors on open cases, responds to requests and works closely with the vendor to troubleshoot and help identify root cause when necessary
- Establish COBRA for terminating employees/dependents enrolled in Health/Vision/Dental
- Act as point of contact to provide employees with FMLA or Leave of Absence paperwork requests. Review documentation provided for approval, tracking and status follow up
- Process ST/LTD claims with insurance company in a timely manner
- Collaborate closely with Payroll to maintain spreadsheets for each insurance provider to provide necessary documentation for invoice processing
- Collaborate closely with payroll to audit, prepare and reconcile monthly benefit invoices in a timely, accurate manner
- Notify payroll of any PTO hours to pay out for terminating employees as Company policy dictates
- Coordinates annual open enrollment meetings and presentations
- Process 401(k) reports and supports annual 401(k) testing and regulatory reporting
- Process support orders
- Work on special projects as required
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
- Provide back-up assistance for:
- Processing new hires and guiding them through on-boarding paperwork
- Preparing name badges
- Preparing time clock badges
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors’ Degree in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
- Thorough understanding of benefits administration

- Working knowledge of COBRA regulations
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel spreadsheets
