The Department of Public Buildings is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager to provide professional and administrative work in overseeing the construction/renovation of all city and school buildings and ensuring that the city’s best interests are represented. The Project Manager will perform all project management tasks associated with the capital improvement plan including coordinating and evaluating bid services, reviewing and coordinating design projects, scheduling, budgeting, payment requests, construction management, and providing oversight of all contractors, vendors, and design professionals. Knowledge, Ability and Skills: Knowledge of applicable laws, policies, codes and standards relating to construction, construction safety, architectural access, ADA, LEED, energy codes, and Massachusetts procurement M.G.L. c. 30B, M.G.L. c. 149, M.G.L. c. 7C, and M.G.L. c. 30, § 39M. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals and construction documents. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and interact with diverse groups with tact.
Ability to analyze data, problem solve, complete tasks and meet deadlines in a self-directed manner.
Massachusetts Class D driver’s license required, Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License preferred. Must have or be able to obtain MCPPO certification within 12 months of hire. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture and a minimum of five years of experience in design and construction management/administration or related field; supervisory experience highly desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a thorough working knowledge of building processes and procedures and applicable building codes. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of groups and organizations is required. Must be able to work to tight deadlines and stay within budgets. Proficient in using Google Suites, Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point. Experience with Net Zero buildings, ground source heat pumps, solar and sustainability desirable.
SALARY RANGE BEGINS AT: $87,572.00 annually non-aligned position with an excellent benefit package
