Supervise maintenance crews, assure quality and quantity of work performed, and prioritize workload of crew. Includes both supervising and carrying out repair, as well as non-routine and preventive maintenance tasks.

Supervise employees in the maintenance and repair of NSB facilities.
Inspect work of crew supervised and assure quality and industry standards.
Diagnose maintenance and repair needs and assess need for repair work.
Conduct preventive maintenance of facilities for which Department is responsible for.
Select materials and equipment required for good quality performance of work assigned, and is accountable for materials, tools and equipment assigned to crew supervised.
Maintain records of work performed and prepare periodic reports as required.
Conduct weekly safety meetings with employees.
Assist in preparation of preventive maintenance plan and schedule.
Travel to the NSB villages as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT:
May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on-call status.
Respect clients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, other Borough employees and representatives from other local, state and Federal agencies.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Four years construction and maintenance experience, including a combination of heating, plumbing, electrical and carpentry;
One year of supervisory work experience in a construction or maintenance setting;
One year of oil or gas fired heating system work experience;
Ability to obtain 40 hour Hazwoper certification within the probationary period;
Valid Alaska Driver’s License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT:
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.
Applicant must pass a criminal background check conducted by teh State of Alaska Background Check Unit.
