Job Summary: This position is responsible for helping to maintain the financial health of the Organization as directed by the Controller. This includes, but is not limited to, handling of month-end closing tasks, monthly reporting and voucher preparation, year-end audit tasks, outside agency / funder audit tasks, and other job-related duties as assigned. This should be accomplished by having a thorough understand of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Must have excellent communication skills and advanced knowledge of Excel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Cost Reporting. Prepares monthly contract expenditure reports/vouchers for multiple government contracts, including submission of all relevant documents and support
Identifies variances/deviations on contract expenditures as compared to approved contract budgets, communicates adjustments needed on a timely basis; proposes budget revisions as needed.
Monitors and maintains the General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Receivable Journal (ARJ) related to the position’s portfolio of awards and programs.
Performs and manages the accounting duties related to the month-end close, year-end close, and outside agency audit tasks involving the GL and ARJ for the position’s portfolio, such as recording journal entries and reconciling any variances from award reports to GL.
Provides program management with timely reviews of the financial spending of their programs, as well as provides them with forecasts and projections to help facilitate corrective actions.
Performs other job-related duties and ad hoc reporting as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret GAAP principles, technical accounting information, financial reports, and other documents.
Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
A willingness to learn and ability to ask questions when unsure
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in multiple computer and database systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, and general accounting software.
Ability to work as a team member and support in other areas of the Finance department as needed.
Covid-19 Vaccine is required (exemptions are available).
This is a full-time exempt position.
Salary: $60,000 – $68,000/year
