Description: Job Purpose:
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for accurately recording financial transactions, monitoring financial activity, reconciling general ledger accounts, and preparing financial reports. The Corporate Accountant also supports and serves as back up to payable and billing roles within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in preparing financial statements and analyses, budgeting and forecasting activities, and developing ad-hoc reports to monitor financial performance.
2. Calculate, track, and record journal entries for general prepaids and accruals.
3. Verify accuracy of system payroll classification, prepare journal entries to record and accrue in general ledger, and support payroll tax reporting.
4. Prepare payments by assigning account numbers and requesting disbursement.
5. Track fixed assets and record related depreciation.
6. Reconcile G/L accounts.
7. Assist in month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
8. Carry out treasury functions which may include cash reporting and setting up bank transactions.
9. Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts and ensure alignment /mapping of G/L accounts between systems.
10. Assist with tax and license reporting including B&O tax, property tax, and some state payroll taxes.
11. Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
12. Provide back-up support for various functions within the department.
13. Support third-party CPA for corporate tax preparation.
14. Any other duties, projects, or initiatives as assigned.
Working Conditions:
The Corporate Accountant will spend 100% of their time in an office environment indoors. This will require time both spent at a computer station for office work and standing for training.
The usual business hours for this role will be Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, however this role will require some evening and weekends to meet job requirements.
This position is not expected to require regular travel.
This position will have moderate supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Role may require frequent standing, walking, sitting, and keyboarding. Occasional twisting, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, kneeling or squatting. Seldom work above shoulders, and operation of equipment.
Position will require the employee to talk and hear.
Lifting can range from frequent 10 lbs. or less to seldom lifting of greater than 50 lbs.
Direct Reports:
This position will not have any direct supervision responsibility.
