The Director of Manufacturing and Engineering is an integral member of the senior management team. This position is responsible for developing and monitoring performance standards, managing manufacturing costs including analyzing and appraising the effectiveness of all manufacturing operations, and building a high-performing team with a passion for developing and delivering quality products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages production to meet demand while providing timely delivery and quality.
• Engages with purchasing to ensure access to needed materials and lowest possible cost.
• Drives a program of continuous improvement in operations.
• Manages the engineering group and programming to create product drawings and routings for manufacture and in the evaluation of new materials and processes.
• Identifies future equipment needs and makes capital investment recommendations including creating a capital plan for inclusion in annual budget.
• Oversees the procurement, installation and commissioning of new equipment and provides purchasing/planning assistance on large, detailed projects when needed.
• Manages regulatory compliance for production and facility.
• Oversees facility and equipment maintenance.
• Hires, trains, develops, coaches, directs, and evaluates staff to create a high functioning, engaged, and productive team.
• Maintains and enhances company culture by embracing the company’s core values and mission.
• Collaborates in developing companywide safety initiatives and directly responsible for ensuring that the production is operating in a safe manner.
• Ensures the manufacturing floor layout is optimized for labor and throughput; and is clean, organized, and functional.
• Establishes procedures, processes, and systems for maintaining high standards of production operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
• Collaborates with other members of the senior management team to implement improvement strategies and bring in new products, processes and materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
• 8-10 years of management experience in the manufacturer of products from multiple materials, similar to furniture, recreational vehicles, retail store display fixtures, etc.
• Product development experience.
• Significant experience in leading and implementing continuous improvement systems and lean tools.
• Knowledge of design and engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit and Inventor.
• Experience managing safety programs to reduce risks and eliminate injuries.
• Strong data skills with the ability to manipulate, analyze and evaluate data against a production standard.
• Inspiring leader and team player.
• Experience using an ERP system to manage production.
COMPENSATION:
Base pay $120,000.00/year or higher commensurate with experience and track record; discretionary performance bonus; 401K, medical dental and vision; and paid holidays/paid time off (PTO).
