FENN LLC, a manufacturer of custom metal forming machinery, is seeking an operations manager. This position is a crucial member of the FENN management team, and the successful candidate will work with engineers, product managers, and project managers to ensure on time delivery of high-quality machine tools. They will be responsible for the procurement of components, build, and quality of machine tools built to order.
The primary functions of this job will be to establish and maintain a production system that will ensure on-time delivery of products to our customer. Additionally, it will involve managing the resources in the procurement department and factory floor to ensure that the assembly of the machines fits in with the defined schedule. This job will require a strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to get things done correctly, with emphasis on working with people in the process. Understanding people well and using that understanding effectively in motivating and persuading others to act, will be an important aspect of the job. It is important in this job for goals to be set and reached, and for tasks to be completed in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:
· Manage build schedules (from engineering release to shipment)
o Develops detailed Manufacturing schedules for each customer project
o Leads the scheduling effort to ensure sales, engineering, purchasing and planning execution all connect in building a robust schedule to ensure FENN meets its customer commitments
o Provide analysis and project support to assigned program workload. Analysis includes reviewing scope, resource forecast, critical equipment constraints, and schedule performance
o Act as a liaison between production team and sales team, so that sales can keep customers informed of their product status
· Manage and track the assembly hours, minimizing indirect hours.
· Manage the resources on the shop floor
o Keeping the team informed of budgets and deadlines
o Manage succession and training program
o Track performance to schedule
o Coordinate with sub-contractors
o Supervise personnel
· Manage inhouse manufacturing of components.
· Spear head manufacturing improvement efforts
o Implement lean principles to improve organization and efficiency
o Design for manufacturing analysis
o Develop assembly cells
o Process documentation – Assembly and Test
o Coordinate development of custom tools with the engineering team
· Manages and works with the materials manager and buyers to
o Ensure delivery of components inline with the project schedule and within project budget
o Address vendor quality issues and corrective actions
o Develop a plan and schedule for regular vendor audits
o Ensure FENN maintains multiple vendor options in key components categories
o Manages inventory levels and reorder quantities for key components and long lead time items
· Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety standards
Skills and Competencies
· Analytical skills: The ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts and make decisions that make sense based on all available information. Particularly important in the selection of vendors.

· A good understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
· Strong communication and negotiating skills
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles
· A good understanding of machining, casting, fabrication, and similar manufacturing processes
· Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously
