Job Description Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department. While primarily responsible for managing the brokered benefits program by ensuring timely annual enrollment and assisting current employees and new hires, responsibilities will also include hiring and interviewing staff, supporting payroll and the human resource department, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Must have benefits experience, warehouse environment experience, union experience and ADP
Responsibilities:
Oversees benefits department for +500 union and non-union employees. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, insurance and leave (FMLA, STD, LTD, LOA, workers’ compensation). Assists with open enrollment and other reports associated with benefits and company/union contributions.
Liaison between the company’s insurance brokers and providers.
· Assist current employees and new hires with any questions in regards to health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
· Assist HR manager in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company.
· Assists with 401k processing.
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions (exempt and non-exempt); collaborates with the HR coordinator and departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Assists with the onboarding of new hires: conducts or acquires background checks, employee eligibility verifications, and processes new hire paperwork.
Implements new hire orientation (including benefits overviews) and employee recognition programs.
Processes terminations and separations.
Assists with payroll related functions, utilizing the company’s current HRIS system.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other administrative tasks and necessary duties as assigned.
