Social Worker/Case Manager:
Foster Care Coordinator Washington County, located in West Bend, Wisconsin has an excellent opportunity for a full time Social Worker. Under the general supervision of the Family Services Supervisor has the primary responsibility of recruiting, licensing, and monitoring level two foster homes under WI Chapter DCF 56, matching children who are in need of an out of home placement, providing support and resources to county relative and non-relative placement providers, administering and monitoring the court-ordered and voluntary kinship programs under WI Chapter DCF 58 and monitoring subsidized guardianship payments. Qualified candidates must possess:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred.
• State certification as a social worker within 6 months of hire.
• OR Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with relevant experience and completion of social work certification program within three years and certification as a social worker in the State of Wisconsin 6 months post completion of the program.
• A valid Wisconsin driver’s license, available automobile and automobile insurance are required.
Starting salary: Social Worker/Case Manager: $56,675.00 – $75,361.00 (based on experience). Senior Social Worker: $66,418.00–$75,716.99 (based on degree and experience).

Position Summary:
The primary function of this position is Foster Care Coordination
1. Conducts assessments of prospective foster parents through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts and other investigations and performs agreed upon and necessary case management services.
2. Prepares social histories and family assessments, to include in the licensing home study in accordance with the SAFE home study methodology; reviews results with supervisor, makes recommendations concerning foster care licensure and eligibility for court-ordered or voluntary kinship programs.
3. Maintains a caseload including licensed foster parents, court-ordered and voluntary kinship recipients and providers receiving subsidized guardianship payments.
4. Works directly with social workers to match children to out of home care providers, including communicating with other counties or child placing agencies.
5. Coordinates recruitment and retention efforts to ensure sustainability of the program
6. Maintains detailed case records and ensures all case work is completed as required
Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of WI Chapter DCF 56, Foster Home Care for Children, WI Chapter DCF 58 Kinship and Long-Term Kinship Care, and the SAFE home study methodology. Basic understanding of child development, childhood trauma, mental health and alcohol or drug addiction, knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way in which these issues affect families. Exceptional telephone, communication and computer skills are essential to this position. Ability to multi-task completing several functions at the same time that coincide with one another. Ability to prioritize competing tasks in a rapid fashion. Ability to think critically and problem-solve in crisis situations and de-escalate conflictual situations. Work environment can be hostile, fast paced and at times highly volatile.
Training and Experience:
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Social Work and the ability to be certified as a social worker in the State of Wisconsin within 6 months of hire. Master’s Degree in Social Work with licensure preferred. Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years’ relevant experience also considered. Non-social work degreed candidates must be willing to successfully complete an accredited social work certificate program within three years and be certified as a social worker in the state of Wisconsin 6 months post completion of the program. Priority to candidates who have experience working with children and families in the capacity of child welfare, youth justice or foster care services. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license, available automobile, and automobile insurance are required.
