Job Description:
The Corporate Controller/ Chief Accounting Officer will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. They will manage a team of approximately 3 to 5 direct reports and have oversight for fiduciary reporting, general ledger, technical and operational accounting. The Corporate Controller is responsible for all aspects of internal and external financial reporting for the company alongside all business aspects of the company’s financial systems. M&A financial due diligence, purchase accounting and integration is a critical component of this role as is the management of tax filings and general compliance on all fiscal matters. The Corporate Controller is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial records and for driving policy, procedures and process improvements for the Accounting function.
Essential Job Functions
Lead the book keeping and timely closing of month end financials while continuously striving to shorten the timelines and improve accuracy, preparation of Gainwell’s consolidated monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial statements in conformance to U.S. GAAP. Additionally, manage and coordinate all internal and external reporting activities for management, the PE sponsor and financial institutions/ lenders
Manage and coordinate quarterly and annual audits and valuation on a timely basis and implement continuous improvements, with a target of zero audit adjustments
Establish a strong trusted relationship with the CFO, business unit/operating and finance/accounting leaders based on demonstrated financial acumen and knowledge of the business, operational performance, and strategic objectives
Develop and drive necessary financial policies, procedures, and controls, and play a leading role in directing change initiatives and process improvements. This will also include supporting key finance team members’ efforts to regularly train the non-finance side of the house on the importance of a solid control environment
Drive and improve business processes through implementing a new ERP platform and continuously look for opportunities for automation to optimize reporting capabilities across the enterprise; drive broader process and system improvements across the finance organization, including design and implementation of key controls over financial reporting
Manage the relationship with independent auditors and as needed with banks, lenders, and credit bureaus
Lead research and analysis of technical accounting matters and recommendation of actions relating thereto, including timely implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. revenue recognition, lease accounting, etc.). Provide expert advice on interpretation of accounting standards and resulting guidance on company policies and practices for best financial performance and safeguard
Oversee the tax compliance and filing functions for the company; manage the relationship with company’s external Tax Partners
Lead financial due diligence into M&A opportunities as well as purchase accounting, acquisition adjustments and integrations of newly acquired companies from a reporting, systems, and processes standpoint
Provide training to other departments on key accounting issues (revenue recognition, appropriate cost capitalization, delegation of authority, leases, etc.)
Support accounting/ financial reporting needs of the PE sponsors, and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
Build strong trusted relationships, Interact and collaborate regularly with key stakeholders across business/ operational leaders, legal, human resources, shared services, internal audit, FP&A, risk management, facilities, order-to-cash, and source-to-pay/ supply chain.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
The Corporate Controller will have at least 15-20 years of hands on experience in roles of increasing responsibility. The ideal candidate must be CPA credentialed, preferably with early career Big 4 national public accounting training, and have gained significant exposure to technical accounting. Experience from the healthcare technology and/or government services industries is preferred, though candidates with experience from best-in-class, high-volume focused services companies will also be considered. Prior experience working in a PE-sponsored environment is of critical importance as is working in a company with international operations. S/he must be nimble in the face of change and comfortable operating in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment with a demonstrated ability to add value to such a business. The ability to lead and build strong teams and effectively communicate and present to senior leadership is also crucial to success in the role.
In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:
Industry experience working in healthcare, healthcare technology, technology/ professional services, and/or government services companies, is preferred
Experience with scaling business processes and operating in environments that have achieved significant scale
Prior experience implementing an ERP system and new technologies across past enterprises is valuable
This person must operate with a high sense of urgency coupled with a customer service orientation, strong attention to accuracy and quality of work
Prior experience and ability to effectively navigate in a fast paced, rapid change environment where priorities change regularly and where steady state is rarely achieved
Given the global operations of the company, s/he must be comfortable and adaptable to working flexible hours, given the offshore partnerships and activity involved in preparing for month and quarter ends, as well as specific projects requested from PE sponsors

Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
Twenty or more years of accounting related experience
Fifteen or more years in a supervisory or management capacity included
Experience working with accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience working with the management implications of various forms of financial data
