We are looking for a full time Product Marketing Manager – Marine to support our consumer products engineering team at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.In this role, you’ll develop integrated marketing plans that will guide product introductions worldwide including market analysis, competitive positioning, advertising, PR, tradeshows, events, website and other key activities over the life cycle of the product. And, collaborate with global product management and global MarCom teams to define product positioning and messaging that communicate the value, benefits and unique selling points.
In this role, youll also be responsible for these essential functions:
Develop marketing and advertising plans in conjunction with Marketing Communications and Sales
Serve as the subject matter expert with Marketing Communications to support the development of marketing and sales tools such as collateral, product documentation, product brochures, sales presentations, training materials, packaging and merchandising
Create and distribute a monthly segment report card with financial analysis, competitive information, and sales metrics
Work daily with significant attention to detail to ensure all internal and external product communication is accurate and consistent (including garmin.com, ads, press releases, sales training and packaging)
Work with product management and engineering to help define customer/business requirements early in the product concept stage with specific attention to the marketability of each feature
Coordinate with the cross-functional teams of Product Management, Engineering, Marketing Communications, IT and other departments for successful and timely launch of consumer products
Disseminate, communicate and present product information such as product messages, value propositions, and positioning (product introduction guides) to various stakeholders (sales, marketing communications, distributors, channel partners, and product support)
Identify and support new areas of market opportunity (multi-product solutions, channel expansion)
Manage product level marketing activities including customer and sales events, tradeshows and conferences
Attend industry tradeshows, customer meetings and other events as required
Qualified candidates will possess the following education, experience and skills:
Bachelors Degree from a four year college or university
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Must possess a minimum of 5 years progressive marketing experience in a technical field
Demonstrates a strong passion for Garmin, including its mission, products, values and success
Demonstrates proficiency and strong aptitude for consumer electronics devices
Demonstrates proficient Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Possesses experience and demonstrates a consistent track record in effectively leading and driving cross-functional teams to successful product launches with measurable results
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
Demonstrates effective presentation skills
Demonstrates effective leadership and team building skills
Ability to travel up to 20%
Candidates with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing or Business or an MBA are preferred. Previous experience working with other global companies and demonstrates understanding of global marketing techniques is a major plus!
