As part of a dynamic team, GBL Engineers contribute to all aspects of the software development process, which includes requirements definition, design, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, and in-service support to various US and Foreign Military customers. Qualified candidates should have a working level of understanding of software development, unit testing, peer reviews and configuration management. Successful applicants should have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in an embedded government/contractor team environment. Qualified candidates must be self-starters with the ability to work independently without close supervision. Applicants should exhibit excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills. Ideal candidates will be expected to mentor less experienced engineers and influence the structure of an established dynamic team.
Qualified applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Current active SECRET clearance is desired. Must be able to obtain an Interim Security clearance within first 90 days of employment.
Roles, Responsibilities, & Requirements:
• Level 2-Exhibits technical and operational proficiency in the primary duties of the job family. Plays a key role in implementing projects and programs in the function. Acts as a resource to managers and employees in the organization. Typical education and experience or equivalent combination: Bachelor’s; 2-5 years of related professional experience. Note: Newly hired MS graduates are typically matched here.
• Level 3-Seasoned professional in the job family. This is the level of full competence that all professionals are expected to achieve in the function. Manages program and project implementation and makes significant contributions to department goals and planning efforts. Typical education and experience or equivalent combination: Bachelor’s; 5-8 years of related professional experience. Note: Newly hired PhD graduates are typically matched here.
• Level 4-Has advanced subject matter expertise in job family. Contributes to and may lead the planning and implementation of large programs in the function, and regularly interfaces with senior management and executive leadership. Plays a role in overall functional strategic planning. Typical education and experience or equivalent combination: Bachelor’s (advanced degree preferred); 8-10 years of related professional experience.
• Level 5-Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly creative. Works under consultative direction toward predetermining long-range targets. Provides advice and counsel to the organization in area of expertise. Typical education and experience or equivalent combination: Advanced degree; 10+ years of related professional experience
• Ability to design and develop a software product starting only with customer provided requirements
• Some project management skills required
• Strong OOP/OOD skills
• Software development utilizing Java and C++ programming languages
Additional Qualifications Considered a Plus:
• Experience with the following tools or technology is desired: MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office Suite
• Experience with any of the following tools: Agile, Scrum, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent-Agents, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, Drools, Linux.
• Additional knowledge and skills include experience with Real-time Software Systems and development, UML modeling, scripting languages (i.e. Java script, Perl, PHP, Bash) and software version control.
• Additional desired experience with real-time embedded software, and hardware-in-the-loop implementations
