The Role:
Become a key part of the team building GM’s growth story, at an inflection point for the company and for transportation itself. GM has unveiled a growth plan in which we expect revenue to double by 2030 while also expanding margins. The Senior Manager, Financial and Sales Communications is a key member of the team responsible for building the story of GM’s growth plan and reporting its financial progress at a crucial time in its ongoing transformation. The position offers the opportunity to develop greater business acumen and build strong relationships with leading digital, broadcast and business media outlets.
The successful candidate will be expected to move quickly to establish strong relationships with media, communications colleagues, and business partners. Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant experience working with Fortune 100 companies. Auto industry experience is not required.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
The senior manager helps develop and manage the workplan used by IR and Financial Communications to create all earnings materials, including remarks, press releases, graphics, social media and other digital content. The senior manager also helps manage communications aspects of GM’s annual shareholder meeting, including the proxy statement, as well as investor events.
Media Strategy
The position includes helping develop media strategies for key moments in GM’s growth strategy, including earnings, other financial events, strategic investments and M&A.
Content Strategy and Development
The senior manager works with a broad spectrum of subject matter experts and leaders in Communications, Investor Relations and the Finance staff globally to help develop themes and messaging around the company’s financial performance for both internal and external audiences.
People Leadership
The individual in this position will have the opportunity to develop managerial skills by leading projects, collaborating with leaders and experts, and potentially managing a summer intern.
