Supervises and participates in the research, analysis and design of complex Geographic Information System (GIS) projects and applications; or manages, evaluates and monitors the operation of the GIS database; and performs other related duties as required.
Current vacancy:
Functions as the City GIS database manager, and as the lead GIS Analyst and working supervisor of GIS projects and applications.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field. Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor’s degree.
Four years of progressively responsible experience in using GIS software in the design and production of thematic maps and other applications.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the concepts and principles of GIS: geography as it applies to GIS; mapping, cartography, surveying and photogrammetry; GIS and relational database management concepts and theories; operations, characteristics and capabilities of various types of GIS computer and peripheral equipment; and the ability to analyze, correlate and evaluate thematic map data and records; design and create maps, graphics and data reports; effectively communicate and document GIS data and programming requirements as defined by users; and plan, assign, coordinate and direct the work of others.
NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license (Type 3/automobile) , as required.
