Department Information
The Office of Development is principally responsible for securing the understanding and
philanthropic support of the private sector for the Institute and its programs. The Office focuses its efforts on obtaining commitments for
major and principal gifts to the Institute and its associated foundation(s) and leads the comprehensive fundraising efforts, which results
in gift revenues in excess of $100 million annually and nearly $200 million in new gifts and commitments during the Fiscal Year 2020.
Support is sought to enable the Institute and its colleges, schools, and other programs to achieve strategic objectives that will keep our
educational programs on the leading edge of discoveries and developments.
Job Summary
The AVP Development
Operations & Services (DEV) is responsible for leading all operations and services teams across the division. These include gift
records; IT/management; prospect research and portfolio management; stewardship; and all work related to budget oversight, strategic
planning, financial reporting, fiscal projections, staff recruitment and retention, legal concerns, facility/space and resource management.
The AVP also serves as a strategic thought partner to the VP and other members of the DEV team in the setting and elevation of divisional
goals, performance evaluation, and team metrics, gift practices and policies, intra-divisional communication and operations. This role will
also serve as a connectivity point in all shared work with the GT Foundation, GT Alumni Association, and GT Athletics Association. The AVP
plays a larger role through service in multiple institutional settings, standing committees, term-limited working groups, search committees,
etc.
This position will interact on a regular basis: with VP Development, Institute Executive Leaders & Deans, GT Foundation, GT
Alumni Association, GT Athletics, Budget & Finance GTHR. This position typically will advise and counsel: VP Dev, Institute Executive
Leaders & Deans, DEV leadership team.This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work nights and weekends; some event attendance requiredSome travel is required ed; a
valid driver’s license with a clean driving record needed
Required Experience
10 years of direct
experience in higher education or non-profit organizations.
Preferred Experience
12 years of direct
experience in higher education or non-profit organizations.Service on an ADV specific team within higher education and demonstrated
understanding of fundraising and volunteer engagement management.
Prior experience in business operations in a college/Institute
environment.Direct experience with the following: budget planning and execution, spreadsheet applications, data integrity and security, and
general accounting/fundraising reporting and practices in keeping with industry standards and national guidelines.

including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Blackbaud, Banner and Marketing Cloud/Salesforce.
Strong understanding of
scalable forecasting models, real-time fiscal management and cost containment, estate reconciliation, and overall financial audit
functions/obligations.
Skills
