As a part of GCMI’s T3 Bioskills Training & Education Department, the Bioskills Lab Specialist will participate in various projects to allow for a broad range of experience in surgical training and biomedical education programming. The Bioskills Lab Specialist will be responsible for program management, including new client onboarding, logistics, program development, specimen requirements, estimate development, adherence, and marketing for T3’s Bioskills program.
Bioskills describe the practice of simulating a medical environment for the education of healthcare professionals, for the purposes of teaching, studying, training, or researching the gross structure of the human body or performing medical or surgical procedures. Bioskills replicate the patient experience through the use of human or animal anatomical specimens (cadavers, whole, or in part), medical simulators, or synthetic models.
Job Duty 1 –
Organize and facilitate training and education lab events ranging in size from one-on-one corporate-sponsored surgeon training sessions to large group surgeon and /or sales force training events.
Job Duty 2 –
Act as the primary point of contact for sponsors while on-site and customer liaison to clients throughout the booking process, event, and post-op lab follow-up.
Job Duty 3 –
Model ordering for program-specific needs, i.e., human cadaveric and animate models
Job Duty 4 –
Support human tissue handling and storage program, including preparing and packing anatomical specimens for use in training, storage, and transportation.
Job Duty 5 –
Assist in writing program protocols.
Job Duty 6 –
Ensure all clinical requirements are met to provide a successful program, such as ordering specimens, equipment, and instrumentation.
Job Duty 7 –
Assist with scheduling programs with clients, vet ops, CE Team, and procedure calendar.
Job Duty 8 –
Responsible for cadaveric anatomical dissection and specimen processing.
Job Duty 9 –
Create budget estimates for corporate sponsors and final reconciliation invoices.
Job Duty 10 –
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Flexibility to work varying schedules to meet customer demands either face to face or by phone; the schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Required Experience
Two to three or more years of job-related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Surgical Technologist certification.
Preferred Experience
Two to three years of the operating room or tissue banking experience.

Ability to prioritize and plan many simultaneous events without requiring task assignments or approvals. Ability to make decisions. Ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity. Ability to build relationships with physicians, medical product vendors, and other health care professionals. Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time, lift, carry, handle, or transport objects of up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in conditions that have exposure to blood, bodily fluids, ionizing radiation, human cadaveric, and animal models.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of general surgical terms, technology, and procedures. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly concerning bloodborne pathogens. Basic knowledge of business acumen, human anatomy and biology, surgical instrumentation and cleaning, and safe laboratory practices. Knowledge of human tissue for research or transplant, life science, business development, or project management.
SKILLS
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Quick Books, and Database management. Excellent organizational skills; able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
