As a Logistics Dispatcher, you will play a vital role in managing transportation logistics for our clients, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of freight while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities
Be the first point of contact for clients, carriers, and drivers, responding promptly to their inquiries and providing accurate and detailed information.
Provide competitive and accurate freight quotes to our valued Freight Agents, based on shipment details, market rates, and carrier availability.
Efficiently set up new clients in our system, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and entered.
Create loads within our transportation management system, including entering shipment details, pickup and delivery locations, and any special requirements.
Vet carriers by conducting background checks, verifying insurance and operating authority, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and our company’s standards.
Dispatch loads to carriers, considering factors such as carrier capabilities, pickup and delivery windows, and load compatibility.
Track and monitor loads throughout the transportation process, ensuring timely pickup, transit, and delivery.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all load-related documentation, including bills of lading, delivery confirmations, and proof of delivery.
Collaborate with various internal departments, including sales, operations, and accounting, to ensure seamless coordination of freight transportation and accurate invoicing.
Proactively resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the transportation process, keeping all stakeholders informed and finding appropriate solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends, market rates, and regulations to provide knowledgeable support and advice to clients and carriers.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in logistics or related field is a plus).
Previous experience in a similar role within the logistics or transportation industry is highly desirable.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in transportation management systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, carriers, and team members.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of carrier vetting processes, industry regulations, and load tracking procedures.
Familiarity with various transportation modes (e.g., trucking, air freight, rail, etc.) and associated documentation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and find efficient solutions.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
