Overview
The Getty Digital Content Strategy team seeks an experienced Digital Media Producer who is a documentary producer, shooter, and editor (a one-person band). Must have a proven ability to organize the research, personnel, equipment, and facilities required to deliver a finished story or program within a set budget and on deadline. The Senior Digital Media Producer role is responsible for all aspects of the stories they produce including research, interviewing, script preparation, voiceovers, and edit supervision when necessary. As well, this position is responsible for communicating and behaving in a way that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion among colleagues and audiences alike. The types of productions will be a mix of documentaries, interviews, social media videos, and news clips, with a focus on short documentaries specifically for a wide general audience.
The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, with a confident, open, and energetic on-camera presence, exceptional interviewing skills, and a strong track record generating original and captivating stories.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Lead Creative Producer.
Responsibilities
• Understand Getty and its Programs thoroughly and deeply in order to present our work and offerings compellingly yet accurately to a general audience.
• Research, write, shoot, edit, and co-produce short digital video projects on topics across Getty.
• Oversee digital video projects from conception through completion, serving at times as the primary contact for internal and external parties.
• May create and oversee the creation of original visual content and produce high impact visual storytelling; manages process, from conception to production to completion across a diverse array of communications channels and media, utilizing best practice standards that foster photographic and video excellence.
• Create and execute project proposals; develop and manage multiple concurrent project plans.
• May serve as media project team leader, working with content creators, designers, production staff, and external contractors.
• Execute video and related media projects through hands-on content creation such as camera work, lighting, and audio recording.
• Video editing, building out stringouts, rough cuts, fine cuts, and QC.
• Write scripts/outlines for each video.
• Develop storyboards when necessary.
• Work within daily deadlines while simultaneously working on long-term features.
• Research and secure assets for B-roll and inserts.
• Collaborate with others in the Digital Content Strategy team and with digital communications staff across Getty programs to develop storytelling strategies and projects in which video plays a role.
• Ensure consistency of all video content with Getty brand, strategy, and design standards.
• Work diplomatically with stakeholders to accommodate rounds of review and edits, while keeping projects on schedule.
• Work closely with other content creators, designers, production staff, and external contractors across Getty.
• Proactively communicate content plans and progress to supervisor and team.
• At end of projects: organizing, tagging, and uploading of media into the Getty’s digital asset management system.
• Work with other Digital Content Strategy staff to capture, edit, and adapt footage for a wide variety of digital platforms including web, blog, YouTube, app, and social media.
• Other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Lead Creative Producer.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably related to digital media production
• 7+ years of experience
• Substantive experience in media production and project management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Expert writing ability for video.
• Demonstrated talent as a producer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation, and production.
• Commitment to reflecting community and diversity.
• Superior writing, editorial, and production skills.
• Knowledge of hands-on video production, including shoot planning, camera setups, lighting, audio capture, and interviewing techniques.
• Knowledge of social media video trends and production styles.
• Experience filming documentary-style setups.
• Ability to work with a production crew and also work alone.
• Knowledge of media creation and production tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere, and AfterEffects.
• Comfortable working with cloud-based media management tools like Frame.io and Kyno.
• Comfort with Blackmagic, Canon, Sony, and DJI cameras.
• Ability to switch from a production mindset to a post-production mindset effortlessly.
• Ability to produce multiple projects simultaneously on time and within budget.
• Extensive communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
• Great self-starter, but also able to work well with others.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
