Responsibilities:

• Oversees internal and external audits and responds to audit requests
• Coordinates audit requests and PBC lists with GRHC staff; researches issues and collects documents as appropriate
• Assists Controller and Assistant Controller in responses to audit findings, tracking corrective actions and implementing process changes
• Prepares and reviews a variety of journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial records
• Prepares and distributes a variety of standard reports of financial activities
• Reviews for accurate recording of all transactions; researches out of balance and/or open items
• Provides oversight and review of balance sheet reconciliations
• Provides analysis of Balance Sheet accounts and Financial Statements
• Coordinates external reporting and requests for Indirect Cost Proposals and Medicare Cost Report
• Assists with the budgetary process as required
• Variance analysis of monthly actual versus budgeted financial data
• Refers complex issues, concerns and/or problems to Controller or Assistant Controller for resolution and/or escalation as appropriate
• Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
• Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
• Assists with documentation and monitoring of internal controls and segregation of duties

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university required.
• Must have at least 5 years progressively responsible accounting experience including familiarity with asset management, financial reporting and auditing.
• Direct supervision over others a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting theory required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
