Summary:
Governors America Corporation (GAC), is seeking a detail oriented, organized, dependable Human Resources Generalist to join our organization in Agawam, MA. The HR Generalist will be responsible for performing Human Resources / Payroll related duties and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee benefit programs, including Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, STD, LTD, 401(k), Worker’s Compensation, Flexible Spending Accounts; employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, and employment equity programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works directly with company executives to ensure compliance with State, Federal and Local regulations and laws.
Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook.
Administers compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
Assists with preparation of annual Affirmative Action Plan and maintains the program; files necessary reports, maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Performs outreach to community sources as needed.
Responds to employee relations issues, including but not limited to: hires, terminations, employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints; assists management with employee relation issues.
Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
Facilitates and/or provides orientation training.
Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conducts orientations; writes and places advertisements.
Screens and interviews job applicants to fill all exempt and non-exempt job requirements.
Prepares employee separation packages and other related documentation; conducts exit interviews; sits in on terminations.
Maintains Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Payroll System records and compiles reports from database.
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and wage and hour laws, ensuring that all policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data; compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions.
Processes all checks and direct deposits.
Prepares payroll statements and reports bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management.
Responsible for keeping information within the time-clock current and up to date.
Contact various department supervisors for any missed times and make appropriate changes to time cards.
Assists in development of overall payroll procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency.
Facilitates the participation in various work opportunities / issues with impaired or disabled employees and coordinates with social workers, home staff, etc… with work issues or behavioral issues.
