Granite Automotive Hiring for Automotive Dealership Controller/CFO Job at Rapid City, SD Full Time

Growing western South Dakota automotive dealership seeking to add a qualified Controller who is responsible for providing sales and expense analyses for all departments and coordinate with each department manager in a manner that enables each department to operate profitably. This person must fairly represent the financial condition of the dealership, develop controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, maintain accurate records and establish and maintain the data processing capabilities to accomplish the dealerships’ objectives.

Day to Day Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Preparing complete financial statements and submitting to the manufacturers and management in accordance with established timeframes
• Interpret and analyze financial statements
• Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports and create action plans needed to improve their operation
• Keeping the Owner and General Manager informed on the trends and cash needs of the business
• Develop and maintain an effective cash management system
• Manage the day to day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies
• Close the books accurately each month
• Review general ledger and scheduled accounts. Note any unusual entries and investigates
• Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, and floor plan payable
• Prepare or assist outside accounting firms in all federal, state, and local tax returns and tax payments.
• Prepare information for and assist with independent audits
• Manage the dealership’s email accounts, telephone system, and other technology
• Manage and safeguard the stores’ assets and ensure that internal controls are in place
• Budget to cover the overhead and produce the desired profit
• Work with Managers to improve revenue or reduce expense in order to meet or exceed budget and grow the business
• Approve adjustments to inventory accounts
• Prepare a profit projection for the dealership on a short and long-range basis
• Purchase property and liability insurance
• Recommend and report loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables
• Automate all possible systems and establish control procedures

Qualifications for this Automotive Controller/CFO include:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA eligible preferred
• At least 3-5 years of Automotive Controller experience
• Knowledge of Dealertrack DMS preferred
• Strong financial and business acumen
• Solid experience with Excel and have advanced computer skills
• Must be organized, flexible, and able to multi-task and manage numerous projects in a timely and efficient manner
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, engaging personality
• Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
• Professional appearance and work ethic
