Job Description
Great Plains of Cheyenne County, Inc. d/b/a Cheyenne County Hospital in St. Francis, Kansas seeks multiple Medical Technologists.
Responsibilities: At the direction and control of the Lab Manager/Lab Director, the Medical
Technologist will perform a variety of specimen analysis in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, urinalysis, serology, and bacteriological testing and related procedures and duties to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established standards and practices.
Analyze results of testing. Interpret abnormal and unusual results and check accuracy of such results. Record and report testing results. Immediately call critical values to appropriate patient care personnel. Assist in orientation and training of students and new staff.
Applies techniques used in fields of Bacteriology, Blood Bank, Chemistry and Urinalysis, Hematology and Coagulation, and Serology. Comply with all Health and Safety, Laboratory policies and protocol,
Federal or state regulations, and Human Resources policies and procedures. Perform other duties as directed/required. Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and on-call hours.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related degree (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: 1 year of experience in the job offered or related position. Other special requirements: 1 year of laboratory experience in a hospital setting; and applicant must have ASCP,
AMT, or equivalent certification at time of hire.
