Position Title: Accounting Associate

Schedule: 10-20 hrs per week (can be fulltime)

Location: REMOTE / Work From Home (anywhere in the US)

Pay: $18 – $25/HR

Job Summary:

We currently have a fully remote opportunity for an Accounting Associate at a rapidly growing accounting and tax firm. Not only will this role help in monthly bookkeeping activities, but will also help manage all A/P for multiple clients, as well as payroll activities. Additionally, this position could be asked to do miscellaneous activities for the company such as bank statement uploads, sales tax filings, etc. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about each of our clients, and step in and help as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a great attitude about improving processes and strong attention to detail.
The candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and define their role further, and have the opportunity to handle multiple projects. The ideal candidate would be able to work during normal working hours, but can also work flexible hours as needed.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
• Manage A/P of multiple different companies
• Manage the payroll and payroll processes of multiple different companies
• Post journal entries and close out monthly financial statements
• Perform audits and checks at the end of each month, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
• Report analysis and findings to management team
• Communicate with clients throughout the month results and/or findings
• Any miscellaneous tasks and projects that client or internal management needs
• Direct day-to-day accounting operations with multiple companies, perform all transactions related to the general ledger, invoicing, receivables, payables, and payroll, depending on what the client needs
• Clean-up / post opening balances of new clients
• Perfecting the art of onboarding a new client
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures to replicate for each client; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
• Produce periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual); ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and/or cash reporting
• Be able to post journal entries and close the books each month
• Analyze and report any findings and recommendations regarding the company’s financial position with respect to profits, trends, costs, budget compliance, and forecasting with the help of senior leadership
• For some clients, manage budget and forecast preparation for the company; perform monthly variance analysis, present findings, monitor and evaluate the company’s financial effectiveness
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior management to ensure that both operational and financial plans are created and implemented to achieve the company’s goals
• Work with CEO’s and CFO’s of small businesses throughout the country

Skills/Experience:

• 3+ Years of Experience with Quickbooks Online and/or Xero or other similar Accounting Systems
• Eagerness to learn this accounting software is crucial, and the Company will give you resources to help you learn
• 3+ years of Experience in accounting or other related fields
• 3+ years of Workflow or Internal Process Management software
• 3+ years of Payroll Processing
• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field a plus
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP and Cash Accounting
• Experience in bank and credit card reconciliations, posting journal entries, and closing monthly and quarterly books.
• Detail and deadline-oriented
• You are an incredible communicator both verbally and in writing. You are comfortable interfacing with clients on all levels and across all departments within the organization as well as with demanding clients.
• You have a proven track record and an interest in handling diverse clients in multiple different industries.
• You have outstanding change management skills and the ability to lead teams through change.

• Proficiency in Workflow Software, Google Suite, Slack, and Microsoft Office preferred.

COVID-19 considerations:
We are a fully remote accounting firm. You will not meet in person with any clients. We have offices in Austin and Dallas if you would like to occasionally work in the office.
