The Restaurant Buyer for our chain accounts champions procurement success for our key restaurant program customers. They will engage with vendors on product needs and collaborate with our Program Sales team to ensure strong customer service for this key customer segment within Harbor Wholesale.

Essential Job Functions:

• Achieve established goals in the following KPIs for each restaurant concept:
  • Fill rate – Achieving a set percentage of in-stock products for customer shipments
  • Inventory turns – Striving to maintain an optimal balance between fill rate and stock levels
  • Aged inventory – Managing and reducing the amount of overstock inventory in our warehouses
  • Product spoilage – Making sure that we have minimal product spoilage based on overstocks
  • Forecast Accuracy – Making sure that the error between our forecast projections and actual sales is minimal
• Create purchase orders daily with vendor partners based on data review in procurement system while balancing several attributes: Collaborate with Chain Restaurant Pricing Administrator to ensure pricing accuracy for restaurant customers, inclusive of processing order confirmations in conjunction with Purchasing Administrative Assistant
  • Economic order cycles
  • Service level needs
  • Freight and bracket pricing efficiency as dictated by logistics and/or contracted customer pricing
  • Ensure data integrity within ERP and procurement system for replenishment of items and vendors
  • Promotional or seasonal shifts in demand based on data analysis
  • Direction on limited time offers from customers and Program Sales team
• Act as liaison between Purchasing Department and other departments within Harbor on key restaurant program sales initiatives
• Lead in onboarding of new chain restaurant program customer concepts, inclusive of directing workflow on new item and vendor setup process
• Champion communication on supply chain hurdles that would result in reduced service to chain restaurant program customers
• Coordinate with Replenishment Buyers on ongoing or emerging initiatives/challenges for chain restaurant program customers and provide support on any potential issues to mitigate risk to overall service level
• Complete additional assorted projects as assigned by Purchasing Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, etc.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other ERP software a plus.
• Experience with Blue Yonder/JDA or another forecasting/purchasing software managed by exception is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize projects effectively.
• Be self-motivated to work both independently and as part of a team

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or other related fields is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in procurement role in the foodservice industry.
